DC Power FC Post-match Quotes
Interim Head Coach Phil Nana
On the club’s motivation to get back on track next weekend against Brooklyn…
“We’ll look at the film because there were lots of good moments,” Nana said. “We try to build on those moments and highlight those moments and just keep pushing forward. I told them our biggest thing was to keep on believing and this is a great opportunity for us to work on that. It’s tough to believe when the odds are stacked up against you but we have no choice.”
On Gianna Gourley tallying two goals in three games…
“We’re Impressed,” Nana said. “Even when she has games where she feels that she’s not playing well, she works her butt off and it pays off. That second goal came from hustle and heart. She digs deep and she produces. She works hard for them.”
On Anna Bagley’s boost off the bench with the 50’ equalizer…
“She played very well,” Nana said. “She’s been tough and been working hard the last few weeks. Game in and game out, she’s been playing extremely hard in a tough position, so we knew we wanted to rest her coming into this game. As time went on, it looked like the perfect match to put her in to do what she does best which is to put pressure on the defenders, and she did very well.”
Midfielder Anna Bagley
On her 50th minute equalizer…
“Seeing the equalizer hit the back of the net, I definitely felt a big sense of relief,” Bagley said. “My first touch of the game being a goal was a great feeling, and it gave our team some momentum, leading us to a second goal and that really switched up the entire mood of the match.”
On the message to the team post-match…
“We get these unlucky moments, but we have to keep going and showing up in every opportunity that we’re given,” Bagley said.
On how the match result strengthens team bonds moving forward…
“It definitely wasn’t the result we were hoping for especially after coming back and scoring two goals, but it brings us closer and motivates us for upcoming games,” Bagley said. “We know that we’re capable of winning these games and beating these teams. That motivates us when we face them again.”
