DC Power Football Club Post-Match Quotes
Head Coach Omid Namazi
On the match result…
“Having chances and we don’t put them away and on an individual mistake you got scored on,” Namazi said. “It’s a tough way to not take all three points and give away two. Unfortunately, it was in our hands. If we win out, we’re in the playoffs. Now, we have to hope that Dallas and Spokane drop points.”
Midfielder Ellie Gilbert
On scoring her first professional goal to equalize…
“Coming in as a sub, the goal is always to help the team however you can,” Gilbert said. “The coaches told me that on corner kicks, I’m standing in front of the keeper, so my job on corner kicks is distract the keeper, get in front of her and make sure if there’s any deflections that I get there. It was a great ball from Alexis into Syd and she got her head on it and it was a beautiful hit off her head. I saw it coming to me, put my stomach in front of it and redirected it into goal. It was definitely more the two of my teammates than it was me for that goal, but I also was very happy I could help the team out.”
Defender Claire Constant
On looking ahead to the final two matches…
“I felt like our effort was there,” Constant said. “We just have to be more clinical in the final third. What matters to us is that the effort was there. Now we know going forward we have to keep that same energy level and win the next two matches.”
