DC Power Football Club Post-Match Quotes
Head Coach Omid Namazi
On the final result…
“Going into the game we knew we had been eliminated from playoff contention, so it was a little difficult at first to find the motivation for a lot of the team,” Namazi said. “But give them credit because after the first 15 minutes they fought hard all the way through and again we had our chances but as it has been the case all season, we didn’t capitalize on them. Then we gave up a goal on a corner kick which we had been much better in defending them, but Spokane was able to pounce on a loose ball and put it away.”
On the growth throughout the season…
“The team without a doubt took a step forward,” Namazi said. “We were recognized as one of the top teams in the league with our style of play and how difficult we made it for other teams. We still have ways to go and improve in certain areas if we want to be a championship team. We will be hard at work in the off season to find pieces that can come in and complement the core group of players that will be back and make us better.”
Midfielder Emily Colton
On the season overall…
“No matter the result against Spokane or the last couple results we have had, this team has shown so much growth throughout the whole season,” Colton said. “The fight, passion and commitment has been there all season and although some results haven’t gone our way, we have been in every single game competing to win. This team should be very proud, and everyone has played a significant role on the team this season. “
Goalkeeper Makenna Gottschalk
On the season overall and looking ahead to next season…
“It’s tough to go out this way, we were close to making the playoffs and just didn’t pick up enough points in the final few matches to make that happen,” Gottschalk said. “Overall, the growth of this team throughout the season and even from last year to this year has been huge, I think we have such a talented group of players and staff to make some big things happen and keep building off what we started this year.”
