DC Power FC earned another win on the road, defeating Lexington SC 2-1 in their third match of the 2026 Gainbridge Super League Fall Season. Building off last week’s win, DC extended their strong away form to record their second win of the season.
The first half was contested, with both sides creating chances and recording shots. Getting closer to the midway point, DC piled the pressure onto Lexington and earned a penalty in the 43rd minute from a handball by defender Alyssa Bourgeois. Loza Abera’s initial penalty effort was saved, but the forward was first to the rebound, putting Power ahead at the end of the first half. This was Abera’s third goal of the season and 15th overall in her Super League career and she is now tied as the club’s top goalscorer with teammate, Gianna Gourley.
DC continued to control the game in the second half, forcing mistakes from Lexington’s back line. Midfielder Emily Colton was quick to intercept an errant back pass and placed a low shot into the bottom left corner to go 2-0 up in the 67th minute. Three minutes later, DC goalkeeper Katie Cappelletti brought down forward Hannah White in the box, but Lexington were unable to convert their penalty when forward Addie McCain placed her shot too far right. Lexington pulled one back in extra time with a close shot from inside the box by substitute Mac Midgley. DC Power held on to their lead to close out the game, taking all three points against the defending champions and recording their first win against Lexington in six matchups.
With this week’s result, DC Power move into third place with six points in the Gainbridge Super League standings. Next week, they will return home for a matchup against league leaders, Sporting JAX on Friday, September 4.

- Midfielder Abby Boyan made 13 success passes in the final third. She played 90 minutes and has started all three games this season.
- Midfielder Emily Colton scored her first goal of the season for DC Power. She contributed on both sides of the pitch with seven duels and two interceptions in 70 minutes.
