November 1, 2026 – Suncoast Credit Union Field – Tampa, FL
Match Recap
DC Power FC took all three points in Florida with a clinical performance against Tampa Bay Sun FC in their 10th match of the Gainbridge Super League Fall 2026 season. Building off of their momentum, DC are now on back-to-back wins, while Tampa Bay entered the matchup off of three losses.
Tampa Bay tested Power early on, with a curling shot from forward Eleanor Dale saved by Katie Cappelletti in the 24th minute. Despite the home team’s forward momentum, DC broke the deadlock first right before the half. In the 42nd minute, Samantha Angel lofted in a cross from the left side, flicked on by Loza Abera for her fourth goal of the season.
As the second half wore on, DC Power was on the defensive as Tampa Bay continued to press on for a goal. In the 83rd minute, Jordan Zade whipped in a low cross from the right which was finished by a sliding Tori Waldeck, as the substitute found the Sun’s equalizing goal. As the game seemed to be headed towards a tie, substitutes Tatum Thomason and Alyssa Walker combined for Power’s last minute winner. Thomason played a quick throw in to Walker who caught Cristina Roque out of her box and put a long-range effort over the head of the goalkeeper.
With their fifth win of the season, DC Power move into second place with 17 points in the Super League standings, while Tampa Bay remain in seventh with nine points. DC Power will look to secure wins in back to back games against Lexington SC and Brooklyn FC for their last home matches of the regular season.

DC POWER FC POST-MATCH QUOTES
Head Coach Omid Namazi
Q: What are your thoughts on the team’s performance in this critical match to push for a postseason appearance for DC Power?
A: “We came out playing our football and really imposing ourselves on Tampa and we were rewarded for that with a well constructed goal finished by Loza. In the 2nd half, we continued to play well and it wasn’t until the latter part when we went into a defensive shell. We played too deep in our half in my opinion and we weren’t able to get goof pressure on the ball and their wide services, which is how we conceded. But we fought back and Alyssa showed her quality with a heads up play and a world class goal!”
Forward Loza Abera
Q: What was the mentality of the team coming to Tampa Bay and how did you approach the game?
A: “We really came together as a team and brought what I felt was a strong mentality. We’re here to make a statement and we did just that. I’m so proud of this team and happy with my performance and the goal.”
Forward Alyssa Walker
Q: What was your mindset, coming into the game and then being able to make an impact and how did you all react, even after Tampa Bay’s tying goal?
A: “My mindset coming in was to focus on the things I could control. Games get hectic toward the end, especially when they’re this close, so I knew that if I put 100% of my effort into what I could control, I’d be able to make an impact. The team’s mindset has been great lately and when Tampa got the equalizer, we didn’t drop our heads. We kept fighting and wanted to respond right away, and that’s exactly what we did. We kept them out and found a way to sneak one in.”
