MATCH QUOTES
Head Coach Omid Namazi
Q: On changes from the first to the second half…
A: “I thought our intensity level was off tonight and we gave them too much space to play and they took full advantage of it by taking the lead in the 1st half. We made some adjustments tactically in the 2nd half which turned the game somewhat but I still feel on the night we weren’t sharp, we didn’t pass the ball well enough to develop a rhythm and establish some kind of tempo. Just an off night for us. Good thing is we have a quick turn around and we have an opportunity to make up for this with a solid performance against Tampa, but again our energy level and effort needs to be at its best. Consistently, game in and game out.”
Defender Susanna Fitch
Q: What does the team need to do to get back on track against Tampa Bay next week?
A: “Obviously we are super disappointed that we did not get the result tonight. We did not play how we wanted but I’m extremely proud of our effort throughout the game. We never gave up but we were just missing that final piece. There are some things we can clean up on. First off, we need to shake this game and take what we can from it and apply it to next week. Tampa is always a challenging team to play against so we need to with a lot of fight and desire to win. If we do that, I have no doubt that we can get the win next game.”
Midfielder Emma Jaskaniec
Q: After this hard result, what is the team’s energy and how to not let this result condition the next games?
A: “I think the energy in the group is definitely one of disappointment because we know we’re capable of more, but at the same time there’s a lot of belief in this team. We’ll definitely be frustrated with this result but there’s a lot for us to learn from it. Every game is a new opportunity and we’ve got to shift our focus to the week ahead and how we respond. We’ll regroup in training and come out ready to go for Tampa on Friday.”
