DC Power FC Post-Match Quotes
Interim Head Coach Phil Nana
On the overall thoughts on the match results…
“We won’t be deterred by one game and one goal,” Nana said. “We still have more games to play and more chances to turn things around. The progress is there but the wins need to start coming and we need to start taking these small things seriously.”
On whether Power FC controlled the tempo throughout the match…
“I think the first half we dictated the play, controlled the tempo were able to hold the ball in their half and get the chances we knew we could get,” Nana said. “We just couldn’t finish. Second half, they adjusted a bit and with our one nine up top pressing against those center backs it kind of gassed her out, gave those center backs time on the ball and they started to control the tempo. Then it became a back-and-forth game.”
On what the fan support at Audi Field means to DC Power Football Club…
“It means everything,” Nana said. “It puts pressure on us to get the fans the win, points and something to cheer for. It’s amazing for us and really lifts us up, especially when you’re down and momentum’s not going your way. Having the fans at home and playing here at home, there’s absolutely nothing like it. We’re so grateful.”
Midfielder Emily Colton
On her missed shot attempt before halftime and plans to capitalize on scoring opportunities moving forward…
“Any chance that I can get to capitalize during the game, I’m going to take it,” Colton said. “Any opening I can get and I’ll take the chances from this match and learn and improve for the next one against Brooklyn FC.”
On what went well against Tampa Bay to implement into future fixtures…
“As a team, tactically we came out in a strong offensive and defensive shape and that helped us a lot,” Colton said. “We were definitely the better team, especially in the first half I think we had more chances. Obviously, a tough loss but we need to take the performance into the next game, let go of the loss, and capitalize on our chances.”
