DC Power Football Club Post-Match Quotes
Head Coach Omid Namazi
On tonight’s result…
“The fact of the matter is that we have been playing very well as of late and even in the last two games before this we deserved more than we got,” Namazi said. “More so because we just didn’t capitalize on the opportunities we created in front of goal. Tonight, when we created chances, we were able to put a couple away and had other chances to win this game by a larger margin.”
On the key to tonight’s win…
“The key was our focus and the energy the girls put into the game,” Namazi said. “It was a very transitional game, and we needed our best effort physically considering the long travel and the disappointment of losing the last game when we should have taken three points.”
Forward Alyssa Walker
On her 46th-minute goal to open scoring…
“First, we made an adjustment to our tactics,” Walker said. “The message was to keep threatening the back line with runs in behind. And that’s what I did. As soon as Loza got the ball, she did such a good job getting control on it and I knew she would be able to find me if I put my foot on the gas. Great team win today!”
Goalkeeper Makenna Gottschalk
On her first Gainbridge Super League clean sheet…
“It feels great to get my first shutout with D.C. and the Gainbridge Super League tonight,” Gottschalk said. “Especially at this point in the season where results are so vital, it’s great to be a part of it and to step up and help my team get solid results. Credit to the back line and entire team for doing their job in front of me to help us all achieve the shutout.”
